I don't know what to say about council, except they were easy. Once I figured out how to spellsteal without murdering us all, anyway. Congratulations to Zugar on our first 4 piece T6 bonus.

Yay, no more heart farming
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

The first night of Reliquary ended with a 9% and 14% wipe in phase 3, but this week we returned and got her (him? it?) on the 5th try.

Due to a fluke of vacations and scheduling, we had no hunters for Shahraz, which meant that it took longer to figure out the pull than it did to actually kill Mother; she died on the 3rd pull where we actually got all three tanks in combat and put her where we wanted to. She died with half her body in the pillar, so we posed on her fancy dais.

Illidan is close.

Gurtogg still surly after death
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Gurtogg squished on the 3rd (or 4th?) try. Rogues with fel rage are delicious. Maybe it was because we didn't spend a lot of frustrated time on this fight, but with the tank transitioning and moving elements from bloodboil, I thought it was the most fun mechanic in black temple so far.

Hyjal now monster-free
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Second full night, Archy down. Thanks for helping out, Tyrande, but maybe if you could have sent a bunch of trees to help out it would have been over on the first night.

On the Black Temple front, even though we killed Akama a long time ago, the first kill or two we didn't even bother to take a screenshot. Gurtogg awaits.

Teron go squish now
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

After a long holiday break where we only ran temple to maintain our farmy bosses, Teron died on the first day back, on the fourth attempt. Gurtogg seemed to more than make up for the lack of challenge that Teron presents; we'll be moving to him after Archimonde.

First day in Black Temple
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Our first actual night in black temple and Naj'entus went down on the second try. Now that we've seen the encounter we can tune a bit more and should be one-shottable.

Supremus went down quickly. Pretty fun fight mechanics-wise, but it's really unnecessarily long - lower the hp and the enrage timer and it would have been a lot more fun.

Akama was not worth discussion or a picture.

Kaz'Rogal & Azgalor provide delicious tier 6
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Second day in Hyjal and we one-shotted Kaz'rogal. Collect loot.

Azgalor gave us a little more trouble, and with no previous knowledge of the enrage timer he gave Killjoy a 50k damage surprise before dying on our third try of the evening.

Hyjal's been quite a fun break after being bogged in SSC/TK for such a long time, and Black temple still awaits next week.

Rage & Anetheron down; Black temple open
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Our first encounter with Rage resulted in his death with a handful of people alive and 25 new keys for black temple.

Also, Anetheron down on the second try. Boring picture. Collect loot.

Black Temple starts next week, where the gems drop like raisins.

Kael'Thas defeated
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

After taking a couple week break on Kael prior to the patch, we went back two weeks in a row and downed Kael'Thas on our second night of trying. A big thanks to all our raiders that showed up consistently over the last month of attempts. Congratulations also to all our first Kael'Thas loot winners, especially Zugar who scored two items and won the first quest turnin for the guild.

Hyjal starts next week.

Al'ar died (and stayed dead) after a handful of total attempts. Panza got away with our first ninja looting in years and will have to eat a deviate delight for all future pictures.

We start Kael'thas for real on Sunday.

Vashj Down; Serpentshrine enters the barn
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

With the rest of the zone on farm for a few weeks and a few days of attempts behind us, we dropped Vashj on the first buffed attempt tonight. Congratulations to our first T5 hat winners.

To celebrate victory, Drogas, err.. has his way with Vashj. (The snakes still move, eww.)

Solarian and Al'ar are up next.

Leotheras now blind and dead
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

With a 4% wipe yesterday evening, we returned to Leotheras tonight for a chance to kill him before the zone reset. He caused us considerable grief, with wipes at 7%, 5%, and 1%, before Stigmata collected on a congratulatory purse for getting the killshot.

Vashj awaits.

Karathress Naga-fied
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

Fathom-Lord Karathress and his cohorts curled up into a nice slimy pile of naga, and spewed forth our first sets of tier 5 leggings. While not a difficult encounter, it does challenge our healers to keep up with shadow, frost, fire and pets being thrown at nearly every member of the raid, while having their mana drained at the same time. Well done, healers.

We came within a 4% wipe of having our first night in a while to have two first boss kills. Alas, Leotheras will die another day.

Jolly Blue Giant
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Morogrim took a couple nights of testing before we settled on a strategy that attracted murlocs most reliably, and then squished satisfactorily on the second night.

Morogrim had his vengeance on us from beyond the grave by burying his head in a column. Thanks to Visce for (mostly) editing out the waterfall enema.

Tonight's Menu: Lurker, lightly scalded
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

The Lurker Below had the great honor of being the first trash mob we've killed to drop two pieces of epic loot.

An interesting mix of Ragnaros, Ouro, and C'Thun, only without all the inherent challenge they offered once upon a time.

Cheers to you, Mister Lurker.

Hydross: no better than they
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

Hydross the Unstable took us an extra week due to server instability last Sunday. A few attempts after an agonizing 1% wipe, Hydross was no more.

The Lurker Below doesn't appear to offer up much of a challenge, so, we intend to kill him next.

Void Reaver Smashed
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

The removal of the attunement process allowed us to start farming T5 shoulder tokens a week ahead of schedule. Thanks for the free loot, Void Reaver.

Hydross the Unstable is next on our hitlist.

Magtheridon Crushed, Outland Reclaimed
a long time ago - Sinlaeshel
+ + +

With patch 2.1 came a much-needed breath of fresh air on the raiding front. The re-balancing of epic gear, the retuning of boss encounters, and the redesign of the consumable system, we've since been able to kill Magtheridon pretty handily.

Ogre God Squished
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Gruul was crrushed last Sunday after a few attempts. On one hand, it's sad we didn't manage to kill the pre-nerf version, but on the other hand, the new version is much more appropriately balanced for the instance. Before I'd say it was a stressful consumable dump, but it's pretty fun as it is now.

A few more attunement runs await, and we're off to Serpentshrine.

High King Maulgar Dethroned
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Nice run everyone; it's funny how this encounter goes from where it feels like the first few times you run emps (and really nothing seems to be going correctly) to everything working in just two attempts. Congratulations to Kube and Mirlenga, our first 25-man raid loot recipients.

Abomination Wing, Ahoy
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

After two nights of buffed tries, all the healing and dps clicked on the same attempt for once and Patch died easily and cleanly despite a linkdead tank. Thanks to the whole guild for putting up with all the ridiculous farming required for this encounter. A big congratulations to Visce on Shadow Protectorate's first Tier 3 shoulder.

After the fat blob of flesh died, we played some Frogger, and since Hodur invented the Atari 2600, he was expert at dodging the semis, alligators, and slimes. Along the way, I somehow got hit so hard I got splattered against the ceiling.

Grobbulus next.

Spider Wing Complete
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

The fat spider down on the second night. Personally, I found this the most fun and rewarding fight in Naxx yet. Not that hard most of the way, but that last 30% is a rush. No beautiful casty items, but another slot of tier 3 can't hurt.

We got the widow early last week as well, while swimming on a sea of resist potions. No spectacular drops from her just yet.

Next on our hit list: Patchwerk.

An Old God Destroyed

+ + +

It was a great effort and a big rush to finally drop him. Thanks everyone who put in your hard work to get us this milestone and let us move on to some serious Naxx progress.

Noth No More
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +

Noth and Razuvious have both been dead for some time now, but neither of them have been particularly photogenic. Visce did manage to get this shot of an actual corpse that's not stuck in a wall, or that died by drowning in our corpses.

In other horribly out-of-date news, thanks to Drunken Horde, Squirrel Legion, Hjouse/Phank, and a surprisingly high turnout for an odd Saturday night, we were also able to save Erankius' soul to finish Venatus' sceptre quest. Congrats, Venatus, and thanks to the aforementioned guilds.

Welcome to Naxxramas

It took a couple nights of learning a whole new slew of trash, and a couple nights of wipes to solidify strategy; even though Anub evade bugged in the 80's and healed back to full, we killed him anyway. Congrats to Hodur on the guild's first tier 3 piece and Piter on a nice ring. We also got our first splinter (hopefully of many.) Thanks everyone.

the pre-blackwing pump-up

I'd like to introduce the latest two we met in AQ40. Unfortunately, they've been spending the last two thousand years cooped up with only bugs, their brother, and a big fucking disembodied eyeball for company, so they've lost their social skills. Since they've had such a tough time meeting women, I thought I'd let them post a bit about themselves:

I enjoy the indoors, bug-infested tunnels, disembodied old gods, and mutating scorpions into anger-filled monstrosities. My favorite book is little red riding hood.

I'm compensating for.. well, you know

I'm looking for a companion that isn't interested in sword magazines, sword paraphenelia, scabbards, or purple tights.

I'm fun

After a motivational speech by Venatus, we persevered and they were crrushed.

Loot was had by many; congratulations to all the winners of our first annual 5k C'thun Fun Run: Akorynn (Puglio), Drogas (Puglio), Nihilat (Staff), and Sinlaeshel (shield). After the crafting was done, we had some fun with C'Thun, and I can't stop whoring myself out to push people to watch this video involving Maradon and extreme sleep deprivation.

Finally, Drogas asked me to pitch for his new World of Warcraft T-shirt business. I think he's destined to make a fortune:

Just to catch up on the last couple weeks in AQ40, Sartura was killed ages ago. Here's the money shot, for posterity:

we <3 you

Fankriss took us a couple weeks of trying various strategies that didn't pan out, and then we tried something new and ended up with 38 alive when he died.

It's fucking moving!

Blackwing Lair has truly moved to farm status, as last week we managed to clear the whole thing in 3 hours, 22 minutes, definitely a new record for us. Whether the key to our success lies in my newfound love for hellfire or our new 'group formations' remains a mystery.

On a final note, congratulations to the bearers of our most recent completed sets over the last couple weeks: Akorynn (bloodfang), Rynfire (bloodfang), Hodur (ten storms), and Thungals (dragonstalker).

I left my heart in west orctown
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +
Since December we've made a lot of progress in BWL, killing Vael the week after Razorgore; Broodlord the following week; Firemaw the week after, and finally Ebonroc/Flamegor this last Sunday. Nefarian's puppy is next.

Nefarian, let me back in and I won't pee on the rug

On the old zone front, our Molten Core clear time is down to 2:32, and along the way we've got a lot of completed tier 1 sets. Twelic, Jaidyn, Drixt, and Kontar have completed Cenarion; Malph and Kalindel have completed Nightslayer; Drogas has completed might; Mirum has completed Earthfury; and Stabone and Marz have completed Felheart. (The arcanist belt is a myth created by a cruel, cruel prankster uploading false data to allakhazam.) Congratulations to everyone that completed their sets.

The war effort on Doomhammer has stagnated lately as the novelty's worn off, but here are some quick links for the war:

Over the next few weeks we'll be giving away hundreds of gold worth of prizes, just meet Glarg in west orctown to claim your reward:

Breaking into AQ40; Skeram & the Family down
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +
Skeram lies (or in his case sits) dead:

After Skeram, we paid a quick visit to Vem and friends, who we also dispatched. Sorry, no victory picture, but Vem doesn't make a very displayable corpse. On a side note, why must all bugs have innards containing thousands of tiny bugs?

On the BWL front, Razorgore has been most uncooperative in giving up his fat loots. Instead, lately he has been dropping the same 3 nexus shards every week:

Two dagrons for our birthday
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +
Today, armed with the Hakkar buff (thanks Ten!), we killed Razorgore the Untamed handily on our first try of the day. Conveniently for website updates, after he died he fell into the orb platform with just a foot sticking out, so we didn't get any pictures of his corpse. However, I did get a vid of the final part of phase 2:

Click tiny Razorgore, win prizes

Our first set of BWL loot was Netherwind bracers (Dalthas), Bracers of Trancendence (Piter), and Gloves of Rapid Evolution (Piter). It's the first of many -- Vaelstraesz, here we come.

Our second dagron came earlier in the week. We dropped Azuregos for the first time, but due to a hunter exploit he was considered tapped and we went onto our weekly Ony empty-handed.

Finally, it was a year ago today that Skark finally managed to get the last of us to come online and we formed Shadow Protectorate, with the bare minimum of 10 players. (Incidentally, alts don't count when forming new guilds -- we tried.) We've come a long way since then:

Thanks everyone, it's been a fun year.

We killed Chrommaggus for the first time on Thursday, Feb 2nd, leaving only Nefarion in our path before we finish Blackwing Lair.

This is what Chrommaggus looks like after he dies

Here's us posing next to Lord Victor, right before I killed everyone by starting the event with no warning:

He looks scared

In Molten Core, we've finally finished our first legendary, Sulfuras. Congratulations to Chisgule, thanks to the guild for helping out, and thanks to Sai for crafting the hammer for us so we didn't have to spend an ingot to do it.

A couple Sundays of a lot of phase 1 wiping and suddenly it seemed like we had a breakthrough; 19%, 54%, and bam we won. Thanks to everyone who took the time to farm; special notes go to Sanjo, Jerzey, Drogas, Hodur, Sinl, Venatus, who all farmed an assload of stuff.

The victory pose

Here's a shot of Glarg with the two heads behind him after Nefarian and Onyxia's heads were turned in on the same day.

After our first single day clear of BWL and a repeat on Nefarian on the last try of the night, we have our first complete tier 2 set. Congratulations, Addrik.

Stop, hammer time

After a 43% try and a really close 4% try that got the blood pumping, Shadow Protectorate dropped Ragnaros on Oct 4 for the first time and became the second horde guild on Doomhammer to do so. We killed Hakkar pretty handily on the second try last night. After the 30 tries we gave him a few weeks ago, I gotta say the encounter is definitely more fun with the faster son spawns. It was absurdly difficult before; now it still requires execution but at least it leaves some room for error.

Holy crap, snakes! tours

In Molten Core-related news, we got three new people with full tier 1 sets over the last couple weeks:
Sinlaeshel (might + quel)
Jaidyn (cenarion + lava dredger)
Coloth (felheart)

Big congratulations to all of you.

New content, isn't THAT wonderful?
a long time ago - Dalthas
+ + +
The new battleground's been getting a lot of attention from most everyone; it's great that they solved the deadlock/neverending game and zerging problems from AV and WSG. More practice and we should be giving core a run for their money every game.

Zul'gurub's a lot of fun, too, but Blizzard's on crack to claim that it's a stepping stone between UBRS and MC. Even the crazy bat lady requires group organization that I've never seen in your average greed-motivated UBRS pug. We've killed us some bats and some spiders and some snakes and some raptors and an asston of panthers and skeletons. A push on Hakkar is probably on the horizon after Rag.

Molten core's been normally ho-hum lately even though we've managed to cut the clear time to 4:30. Despite what the patch notes claim, the BOE drop rate change seems to be hit or miss with us; we got 8 last week but only 1 on last Sunday's run. After having a dozen people sit at 7 of 8 set pieces for over a month, we finally got our first set completions on Sunday.

Click me to see the epic broom up-close

Onyxia's been stingy with her sinew but we also finally got our first completed Domo chest quest on Tuesday -- congrats to Thungals on his bow.

We're starting our serious push for Ragnaros on Tuesday, and damnit we're ready!

Super Update of Doom!
a long time ago - Glarg
+ + +

A lot has happened since June 17th! We've continued our learning and destruction of the Molten Core culminating with the beating of Ragnaros down to a respectable 63%, Onyxia's brutal murder at the hands of our mighty 28 man army, and the 4 hour 45 minute whomping of the first 8 bosses of Molten Core.

We've had Plate Nights, we've had Warlock Nights, and Sunday we had our first ever official Priest Night! Since the last update, we've grown closer as a guild, welcoming many new members, and strengthening our old members, casually raiding the nights away. Our Warsong Gulch addicts have been crrushing the night away, and our beautiful women continue to get mildly drunk while managing to keep everyone alive.

With the new layout of the webpage, everyone may rejoice in the beauty that is Shadow Protectorate. Let us continue our pillaging of the fiery wastes, and let the good times roll!

Baron Von Dead

+ + +
We had a bit of a sloppy start and some stragglers to reach the zone, but ended up killing Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr, and in an epic struggle, Baron Geddon for the first time. I'm fairly sure it had to do with Hodur's secret weapon:

Lucifron:
Wristguards of Stability (Drixt)
Arcanist Boots (Sug)

Magmadar:
Cenarion Leggings (Addrik)
Earthshaker (Drogas)
Felheart Pants (Morthius)

Gehennas:
Nightslayer Gloves (Malphaseous)
Giantstalker's Boots (Stampi)

Garr:
Gutgore Ripper (Akorynn)
Obsidian Edged Blade (Ruphus)
Giantstalker's Helmet (Stampi)

Baron Geddon:
Talisman of Ephemeral Power (Neco)
Seal of the Archmagus (Drixt)

Great teamwork on the bomb avoiding and keeping everyone alive.

Answers to some frequently asked questions:

Q: I don't see myself getting credit for the raid from last night. What's up?
A: Don't worry, I probably fucked up, just tell me the date and I'll recheck my records.

Q: How did I only get 3.75 points for last night? I was there from the first pull and on.
A: I start the timer at the time the raid is scheduled to begin, so if you're not in the raid group at 7:00 or off in Orgrimmar and afk, you will miss out on fractional points, rounded down to the nearest quarter point. This is described in more detail in the loot rules.

Q: When are you going to implement bonus points?
A: We have no plans to implement bonus points in the foreseeable future.

Q: Can I kill Grumbar?
A: Sure, it's fun.

No new pictures of Magmadar today; I didn't think it was worth posting a new picture with just a smaller number above it. I do have pictures of some new shinies though:

Not pictured here but equally good, Irmin got a dark iron ring and Jhonni a Tranq tome. Congrats to everyone who got a drop.

Good teamwork led to a 30-minute(!) reduction in our time to clear to Lucifron and we got him on the first try with only a handful of deaths. Perhaps our success against Lucifron also had something to do with our new strategy:

After a couple hours of 4-manning BRD had grown tiresome, we decided to see how tough molten giants and ancient core hounds really were (well, that and do the quest.)

Love me, giant.

Congrats to everyone who got sparkly new set pieces tonight in UBRS, especially Irmin, who'll probably no longer need a cleric:

Finally, I'd like to welcome the Legacy of Steel guys to the guild who joined us earlier this evening. Looking forward to grouping with everyone more.

Not a bad first trip. I do have a movie but it's only about 1/2 of the encounter. I'll upload that sometime tomorrow. Here's the only closeup I managed to get of Lucifron (note: at 86% in this shot), 4 seconds before he tore me a new corn-hole:

The night was not without loot, as we also got our first epic drop:

Great job everyone who showed up. If you have any screens, movies, etc. shoot em my way and I'll put them up. More ramblings about what did and didn't go well are on the forums. Next raid, Magmadar.

Another week, another loot rundown. We got Domo down to 3 adds on one of our many tries, but the lateness of the evening and lack of repair bots forced us to call it a night. Here's our standard loot recap for the week, including everyone's favorite wand:

Lucifron:
Earthfury Boots (Jerzey)
Robe of Volatile Power (Glubin - probably a server first)

Magmadar:
Medallion of Steadfast Might (Sinlaeshel)
Earthshaker (Chisgule)

Lucifron slowed us down for about 40 minutes before handing over his 2 purples and a Tranq tome (grats, Stampi). Here're some pictures of the mad loot so that you can all ooh and ahh appropriately.

Good work everyone; not bad for a first attempt with only 1 tranq shot. Let's shoot for Sunday to take him down. If you have movies, screens, or checks for $20 I'll try to get to them.

Loot from Lucifron was Felheart gloves (Morthius), Earthfury boots (Kazull), Tranq (Othim); Magmadar dropped Quick strike ring (Espah), Nightslayer pants (Malph), and Giantstalker's leggings (Handelurs); Gehennas had Earthfury gloves (Hodur) and Felheart slippers (Glubin).

Alright, I lied, no plate. Sinl's forecast came to naught -- even though we dropped 12 epics, there was no plate. (Sinl, next time, triangulate.) This run is becoming a farm, so let's run through the goodies:

Lucifron (and what an amazing comeback priests):

Magmadar:

Gehennas:

Garr:

Finally, yard trash:

In farmy tradition, we killed all the bosses in the first try and had record clear times to each position. Awesome job everyone, especially retaining composure on a fast-paced Lucifron fight and execution on Garr.

Molten Core | Now serving: Domo

Well, we've finally cleared all the 'weak' bosses from core and next week we'll be ready to spawn Majordomo for the first time. Last night was as efficient and clean as we've had since we started. Here's all the loot since Tuesday's MC raid:

Lucifron:
Earthfury Boots (Mirum)
Felheart Gloves (Coloth)

Magmadar:
Cenarion Leggings (Drixt)
Earthshaker (Sinlaeshel)
Striker's Mark (Jhonni)

Gehennas:
Earthfury Gauntlets (Kazull)
Ring of Spell Power (Sohkaar)

Garr:
Aurastone Hammer (Hodur)
Arcanist Crown (Neco)
Giantstalker's Helmet (Jhonni)

Baron Geddon:
Flameguard Gauntlets (Chisgule)
Felheart Shoulder Pads (Coloth)

Shazzrah:
Nightslayer Boots (Malph)
Cenarion Gloves (Addrik)

Sulfuron Harbinger:
Nightslayer Shoulder Pads (Rynfire)
Mantle of Prophecy (Armodi)

Golemagg:
Blastershot Launcher (Stampi)
Breastplate of Might (Drogas)
Staff of Dominance (Kex)

Yard trash:
Cenarion Belt (Jaidyn)
Bracers of Might (Sinlaeshel)
Arcanist Bindings (Neco)

Sweet crap that's a lot of loot. I need to hire a midget of some kind to type all this in.

Well, we've come a long way from the first week Doomhammer was up, when it took Skark 3 days to get enough people on at his weird Japanese time to sign the charter:

If you're close to 60 and want to come to Core on Sunday, catch me online and we'll really work to level everyone up by then.

Welcome back to Gizele and Griffin, or at least Gizele:

Now I need an afk break after all that typing, cause I'm thirsty for urine:

So after two quick clears we've got the eastern and western(? - library) runs pretty well down. The eastern instance is a farmer's dream right now - 4-5 pulls and then you can fight multiple bosses who all drop blues. Here's a pic with the drops from the first two clears of the east side.

Both Sohk and I got the new water, which the priests seem to like:
